Renowned lawyer Babar Awan defects to PPP, joins PTI
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Renowned lawyer Babar Awan has defected to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and announced to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The announcement was made during a ceremony on Friday.
Talking to the media, Senator Babar Awan said that the country was created on 27th Ramazan and it is the same day.
Babar Awan said that he was resigning from the membership of the PTI after 21 years. “Imran Khan has declared all what he earned,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, PTI chairman Imran Khan welcomed Babar Awan. “A clear division has emerged. On the one side, there is a shrinking status quo while the people hoping for a change are on the other side,” he added.
Imran Khan said that the Panama case in the Supreme Court is a landmark. “This case showed that institutions have been destroyed. At this time, only the Supreme Court and Pak Army have been spared,” he said.
The PTI chairman said that Nawaz Sharif had given the advertisements of Rs 34 billion. “The people are being deceived in collusion with a media house,” he added.
He said that he did not have complaint against Mir Shakilur Rahman because he was not giving him the coverage. “I have a complaint because he (Mir Shakilur Rahman) is protecting a criminal. In ‘Godfather’, the godfather had joined hands with the media,” he said.
Imran said that cases were constituted against him for seeking a reply to the Panama Leaks. He paid a tribute to Babar Awan and Sheikh Rashid for fighting against the mafia.
