ECP to publish revised lists of candidates today
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will publish a revised list of candidates for general election on Thursday (today).
As per details, the revised lists of candidates will be published today following the decision by Appellate Tribunals on appeals filed against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers for the national and provincial assemblies.
The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by tomorrow and the ECP will allot election symbols to candidates on Saturday. Polling for the general elections will be held on 25th of next month.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ECP has issued a code of conduct for media to cover general election. In the guidelines, the media should properly inform public about relevant electoral matters such as political parties, candidates, campaign issues and voting processes.
All media houses have been asked to follow professional standards and strive for accuracy, balance and impartiality as far as possible. The news, current affairs programs, interviews, talk-shows and analyses should not be biased in favor of or against any party or candidate.
The media has been urged to keep a clear distinction between editorial, opinion, news and paid content. It should avoid all forms of rumour, speculation and disinformation regarding political parties and candidates.
