SC orders provinces to submit list of unregistered NGOs, says NAP far from implementation

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered all the provinces to submit list of unregistered Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed hearing for the cases regarding National Action Plan (NAP) and registration of NGOs in Pakistan.

During the course of the proceedings, the court asked which unregistered NGOs are collecting donations, adding that NAP is far from implementation.

The chief justice remarked that the WHO donated Rs 3 million to an unrecognized NGO for FATA, adding that how could a man arrange donation from WHO for his brother-in-law’s NGO.

Justice Qazi Faiz Essa remarked that those who are paying taxes, are in the grip of the government and black money holders are free.

Deputy Attorney General Sajid Ilyas Bhatti informed the court that he do not have record of religious parties collecting donations.

The court is adjourned for a week.
