SC orders re-election in NA-154, allows Siddique Baloch to contest by-poll
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered re-election in the NA-154, Lodhran on Wednesday.
A three-member bench comprising of Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Umar Bandial also nullified the order declaring Siddique Baloch ineligible forever, allowing him to participate in the elections.
The court had reserved the verdict on the petition of Siddique Baloch.
In the 2013 elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had declared Siddique Baloch successful against Jahangir Tareen. He later joined the PML-N.
Jahangir Tareen of the PTI had challenged the order, while an election tribunal announced the judgment in his favor.
Siddique Baloch had got a stay order from the Supreme Court to stop the re-election.
After the verdict, Siddique Baloch said that he would accept the decision on the party candidate in the by-election.
Jahangir Tareen said that he would contest the PML-N.
Meanwhile, the PTI has summoned a meeting to devise a strategy for the by-election on Thursday.
