Influenza claims two more lives in Multan, toll at 14
MULTAN (92 News) – Two more people diagnosed with seasonal influenza virus passed away in Multan on Sunday, taking the recent death toll from the disease to 14.
The increasing cases of seasonal influenza, among which three doctors are also included, are creating fear among the administration of Nishtar Hospital as the disease is rapidly spreading across the city.
Eight more patients suspected of having contracted the virus were hospitalized in the last 24 hours. These included three doctors from Nishtar Hospital.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken notice of the spread of influenza in the province and directed relevant authorities to take all possible measures for the prevention of influenza and advised them to organize awareness campaign regarding the illness.
Seasonal influenza can spread through contact with the bacteria discharged by an infected person’s coughing and sneezing. Pregnant women, senior citizens, and children are susceptible to the disease.
