Seven injured during clashes between activists of rival parties

LAHORE/FAISALABAD/GUJRANWALA (92 News) – At least seven people were injured during clashes between activists of rival parties in Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala after the first phase of Local Bodies Elections concluded in Punjab.

In Gujranwala, the activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) pelted stones at each others, injuring three workers of PML-N, while several vehicles were damaged. The injured workers were shifted to hospital.

In Faisalabad, clash erupted between rival groups of PML-N during a rally in Jhang Bazar, injuring two people. Police reached the spot and dispersed the agitated workers.

In Lahore, clash erupted between the activists of the PML-N and the PTI in Badami Bagh area, injuring a PTI worker, while a worker of PML-N also sustained injuries.


The PTI workers held a protest demonstration in front of Badami Bagh Police Station against police behavior. Later, the PTI workers dispersed after police registered a case against the accused.
