72 martyred, over 200 injured in suicide attack on premises of Lal Shahbaz Shrine

SEHWAN SHARIF (92 News) – As many as 72 people were martyred while over 200 others, including women and children, were injured in a suicide attack on the premises of Lal Shahbaz Shrine on Thursday.

The Sehwan DHO said that 12 women and two children are among the martyrs.

The spokesman for the Sindh police said that the suicide bomber entered the shrine from the Golden Gate.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah phoned IGP Sindh AD Khwaja.

He declared an emergency in the hospitals of Hyderabad.

DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that Army and Rangers troops have been sent to Sehwan Sharif.


He said that the COAS had directed the Rangers to help the civil administration.

Maula Bukhsh Chandio said that Thursdays witnessed a great rush in the shrine.

He said that the rescue operation is in progress.
