Several killed, many injured as rain lashes parts of country
LAHORE (92 News) – Several people were killed and several others injured as heavy rain-thunderstorm occurred in several areas including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Heavy rains which lashed several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caused havoc in the low lying areas as water gushed into the houses besides inundating the streets causing huge trouble for the residents.
Jhelum received 148 millimeter rain, Gujranwala 60, Sialkot 53, Gujrat 46, Kohat 81, Peshawar 43 and Muzaffarabad 21 millimeter.
At least three people were killed and several others injured as heavy rainfall lashed several cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Charsadda’s Shabqadar area, the rain water that mixed with sewage water marooned several houses, while the local administration directed the residents to vacate the area.
In Bannu, the roof of six houses collapsed, while a man drowned in flood water.
In Jehlum, a girl was killed and four others injured when the roof of their houses collapsed due to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan divisions, FATA, and Gilgit-Baltistan during next twelve hours. Hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
