Afridi helps Lahore Qalandars finally end losing streak in PSL
DUBAI (92 News) – Lahore Qalandars finally ended their losing streak in the Pakistan Super League at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday, thanks to Shaheen Afridi’s five-wicket haul.
Brendon McCullum’s team defeated table toppers Multan Sultans.
Shoaib Malik’s Multan side batted first and were bowled out for just 114 runs in 19.4 overs. Ahmed Shehzad scored 32 whereas Kumar Sangakkara was top scorer with 45 runs.
Eight batsmen of Multan Sultans including captain Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir and Imran Tahir failed to reach double figures. Shaheen Afridi bowled one of the best spells in PSL history as he took five wickets by conceding just 4 runs in 3.4 overs.
Lahore Qalandars chased the total for the expense of 4 wickets only. Fakhar Zaman scored 16 whereas New Zealand’s Devcich scored 22 runs.
Skipper Brendon McCullum top scored with 35 runs and remained unbeaten. He played vital role in his team’s win. Multan Sultans are still on top of the table with 9 points after 8 matches whereas Lahore is on sixth place with 2 points after seven matches.
Shaheen Afridi was declared Man of the Match.
