SHO, cops booked for ‘negligence’ in Farishta rape-cum-murder case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Shahzad Town police have registered a case against SHO and other cops on the charge of negligence in the rape and murder case of 10-year-old girl Farishta.

Her body was found from a nearby jungle. She was later laid to rest in a local graveyard. Her relatives had staged a demonstration and blocked road by placing her body throughout the day.

The Islamabad deputy commissioner has also ordered a judicial inquiry into the matter.

On their demand, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar met the protesters and assured them of justice. Later, they ended their protest.

According to the FIR, the SHO and cops had asked the family that the girl would have eloped with someone instead of looking for him.

Several politicians visited the house of the victim to express sympathies with the bereaved family.

Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Sirajul Haq also visited the house to express his condolences. The Islamabad IGP visited the house of the victim.

On the other hand, the police have collected evidence from the house of all three suspects. Samples from the accused have been taken for the DNA test.

The judicial inquiry will be completed in a week.
