Six killed as Karachi receives heavy rain

KARACHI (92 News) – At least six people were killed and several others wounded in rain related incidents in Karachi on Tuesday.

Two persons were killed after electricity cables fell on the road submerged under rain water in Karachi’s Garden area, while two persons including a woman were electrocuted in North Karachi and New Karachi areas.

Roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in New Karachi area due to heavy rainfall, killing two children on the spot. Separately, a woman and man were killed and another injured when the roof of their houses caved in in Lassi Goth and Faqir Goth area.

Intermittent rain in most parts of the metropolis caused power outages and disruption at various parts of the city.


According to reports, more than 300 feeders of K-Electric, tripped causing power breakdown and disrupting the daily activities of the residents of Shah Faisal Town, Gulistan-e-Johar, F.B. Area, Malir, Airport, University Road, Defence, Safoora Goth, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Gurumandir and other localities.

Heavy rains which lashed Karachi caused havoc in the low lying areas as water gushed into the houses besides inundating the streets causing huge trouble for the residents.
