Sufi saint Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s Urs begins

KARACHI (92 News) – The 1,286th Urs of one of the most eminent saints of the subcontinent Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi began in Karachi on Friday.

The ceremonies of the Urs is organized by the Department of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad formally inaugurated the ceremony and offered Fateha along with other significant figures.

The ceremony started with the bathing of the tomb followed by laying floral wreaths and ‘chaddar’ or devotional cloth’ on the shrine.


Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will also participate in the closing ceremony.

Reception of thousands of devotees is expected at the Urs. In order to ensure security of the people, the government has installed closed circuit cameras and walkthrough gates, while more than 100 police personnel have also been deployed.
