TAPI to help promote peace, trade among regional countries, says PM Nawaz Sharif
MARY CITY (92 News) – The foundation stone of TAPI gas pipeline project was laid at the Mary city of Turkmenistan on Sunday.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Indian Vice President Muhammad Hamid Ansari jointly performed the ground breaking of the 10 billion dollars trans regional energy project.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the TAPI gas pipeline project is important for the entire region, adding that the project will help promote peace and trade amongst the regional countries.
The Prime Minister said TAPI project holds significant place in Pakistan’s energy outlook, adding that it serves as vital component of new national energy policy and plans for overcoming country’s energy deficiency through import of natural gas and electricity.
Nawaz Sharif said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a combination of several projects.
