Terrorists’ hideouts destroyed in North Waziristan Agency, says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
MIR ALI (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the Army has wiped out terrorism and aggression in North Waziristan Agency.
Addressing the IDPs after visiting Mir Ali along with COAS Raheel Sharif on Friday, he said that the army has restored peace in North Waziristan and now migrating people will live in their houses.
He said that they would carry out development projects in the areas got vacated from terrorists. “The affectees will be provided all facilities,” he added.
The prime minister said that the IDPs showed courage and patience during the Zarb-e-Azb operation.
He said that the whole tribal belt will be made a cradle of peace.
He said development process is being launched in the terror-hit areas. He said hospitals and education institutions will be opened in North Waziristan Agency.
The prime minister lauded the sacrifices of the security forces and tribal people for elimination of terrorism.
He also distributed gifts among the IDPs who are returning to their native areas from Mir Ali.
Earlier, the prime minister attended a briefing on Zarb-e-Azb operation and return of the displaced families to their homes.
Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, and Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Hadayatur Rehman were also present.
Later, the prime minister distributed compensation cheques of over Rs eight million among rain-affected people at a ceremony in Peshawar.
These people had lost their dear ones and their properties during a recent rain and storm in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said peace is imperative for sustained development in the country.
Nawaz Sharif said peace and stability would attract local and foreign investment and help resolve the issues like poverty, unemployment and illiteracy.
The prime minister said sanctuaries of terrorists have been destroyed in North Waziristan, while street crimes like extortion and target killings have been controlled in Karachi.
Referring to the government’s development agenda, Nawaz Sharif said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will benefit the people of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said road networks would be established from Gwadar to Khunjrab.
The prime minister said fast development and infrastructure and construction of roads and motorways network would bring fruits for the entire region at large.
Nawaz Sharif said Gwadar would be developed as an international city and there would be a lot of development in the Balochistan.
He said Liquefied Natural Gas will be used to generate electricity to help eliminate loadshedding from the country.
