Threatening speech: SC orders Nehal Hashmi to submit reply by 30th
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has ordered Nehal Hashmi to submit a reply to the threatening speech by June 30.
Hashmat Habib, counsel for Nehal Hashmi, appealed to the court to provide them transcript of the contempt of court speech so that they could submit a reply.
Justice Ijazul Hassan remarked the transcript was available at Google and WhatsApp, saying they want reply to the show-cause notice of the contempt of court.
After the hearing, Habib Hashmat said that all the people should be brought to justice. “There was no contempt of court in the speech of Nehal Hashmi. There are a few sentences in the speech and we will explain them,” he said.
He claimed that Nehal Hashmi had praised the JIT and just talked about accountability of government officers. “The JIT officers were not targeted in the speech. The court will acquit my client,” he added.
