Three civilians among five killed in IOK
SRINAGAR (92 News) – At least five persons inlcuding three civilians and one policeman were killed in a latest attack on a police in Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Islamabad district on Sunday.
A police convoy had left for Mir Bazar area on the national highway to clear traffic after a road accident when gunmen came and began firing at the group. The policemen returned fire killing one gunman.
During the firing between police personal and gunmen three civilians were also martyred.
Earlier, more than 40 students, including 24 girls, were injured when security forces used force on a pro-freedom protest in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Police said their several personnel including three officers were wounded in clashes that erupted after police tried to disperse a protest rally of students outside Government Degree College Handwara.
Eyewitnesses said that as the college opened in the morning, students in large numbers started chanting pro-freedom slogans and tried to come out of the premises. However the college authorities closed the gate and stopped the students.
They said that students also hoisted Pakistani flag on a college building. The students were protesting over alleged high-handedness of police and paramilitary forces on April 17 in Pulwama district of south Kashmir. The police and paramilitary forces had raided Pulwama College and several students were injured in police action.
