RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The 72nd martyrdom anniversary of Naik Saif Ali Janjua Shaheed was observed on Monday.
To pay homage to the brave son of soil, a wreath laying ceremony was held at his native town Nakial Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In a tweet, DG ISPR Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said: "Gallantry of Naik Saif Ali Janjua Shaheed, NH, will forever remind us of our commitment to Kashmir. His immortal action is glowing precedent for those struggling to restore the sanctity of land that he laid his life for. Nation venerates his sacrifice."
Naik Saif Ali Janjua was from Nakyal, Kotli. He was hit by artillery fire in his chest on October 26, 1948 during action in Ponch area. He was only 26 years old when he sacrificed his life for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir. He will always be remembered as 'Lion of Kashmir'.
