Truth has come out with Al-Azizia verdict against Nawaz Sharif: PM
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the truth has come out with Al-Azizia corruption reference verdict by the accountability court against former premier Nawaz Sharif.
The prime minister said while chairing a high-level party meeting the hours after an accountability court sentenced Nawaz Sharif to seven years in prison in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference.
Responding to the Al-Aziziza verdict, Imran Khan said that the previous rulers only looted the nation’s wealth after coming into power. The premier was briefed in detail about the court order on Al-Azizia and Flagship corruption references.
The prime minister said the ongoing accountability process was imperative for the country’s progress. “Former rulers only made money after coming into power, they failed to change the fate of the poor masses despite taking Rs24000 billion in loans in last 10 years,” he further said.
Earlier today, Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N supremo and three-time prime minister of Pakistan, was arrested from the courtroom after he was found guilty in the NAB reference. However, the court acquitted him in the Flagship reference but imposed a fine of Rs1.5 billion. His sons, Hassan and Hussain, were declared absconders.
