Two police constables killed in firing, accident incidents in Khanpur, Vehari

KHANPUR (92 News) – A police constable was killed after suspected robbers opened fire on him on Zahir Pir Road in Khanpur on late Friday.

The victim identified as Shakir Joyia was riding a bike when three robbers stopped him at gunpoint and attempted to snatch his two-wheeler, cash and cell phone.

On facing resistance, the suspects fired at Shakir, who was heading home after completing his duty hours in Zahir Pir police station, and escaped after snatching cash and motorcycle.

Shakir suffered fatal wounds and later died at the district headquarters hospital.

Another police constable was killed and his fellow constable sustained injuries after they were knocked down by a bus on Luddan Road in Vehari.

The body of Sadiq Joyia and injured Zahid Hafeez were shifted to the district headquarters hospital. Hafeez was later referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan.

Police registered cases in both cases and began investigation.
