PM stops cabinet members from issuing statements
Responding to the war of words between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen, Prime Minister Imran Khan stopped cabinet members from issuing statements.
In his statement, the prime minister said, “Who will attend the meeting and who is not, this is all depend on my authority.” He has stopped cabinet members from issuing statements and stressed that internal differences of the party should not make their way onto the media.
A day earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was critical of Jahangir Tareen for attending government and official meetings. Shah told reporters Tareen had been disqualified by the Supreme Court and barred from contesting elections and his attending meetings opened the door for criticism by PTI opponents.
Tareen’s presence in official meeting is contempt of court: Qureshi
Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the presence of Jahangir Tareen in an official meeting is a contempt of court.
Talking to the media on Monday, he said that Jahangir Tareen is a capable man. “I request him (Tareen) to decide on the issue that when he sits in an official meeting Marriyum Aurangzeb gets an opportunity to speak against the government,” he opined.
He also asked Jahangir Tareen to advise the party from some distance. “It’s not our viewpoint to touch the 18th Amendment,” he said.
