UN medals conferred on seven martyred Pakistani peacekeepers
NEW YORK (92 News) – United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres conferred medals on the seven Pakistani soldiers who embraced martyrdom for peace in the world.
According to the ISPR, the medals were conferred at UN Headquarters.
The UN secretary general also paid glowing tribute to the martyred soldiers.
“United Nations personnel are regularly targeted by those who oppose peace. Today, we remember our fallen colleagues and rededicate ourselves to the noble mission for which they paid the ultimate price,” he said.
The ISPR said Sepoy Yasir Abbas and Naik Qaisar Abbas are among the soldiers who have been awarded the medals.
It said that 156 Pakistani soldiers have embraced martyrdom during the peace-keeping mission across the world.
