US drone strike kills six ‘militants’ in North Waziristan
PESHAWAR (92 News) – As many as six suspected militants were killed in a US drone strike at a house in Shawal area of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) late on Saturday night.
As per reports, the strike took place in Warokey Mandi area of Shawal district in North Waziristan, a tribal region where the Pakistani military has since June been battling militants linked to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
Sources said that the house was located near Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The deceased include foreign fighters as well.
North Waziristan is one of seven semi-autonomous tribal districts that border Afghanistan. It has been a hub for Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants since the early 2000s. The area is generally off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to independently verify the number and identity of the dead.
