US supports Pakistan efforts for border management: Richard Olson

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Olson has said that they support Pakistan’s efforts for the border management.

During a meeting with Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry on Saturday, he said that the international community highly valued 35-year hospitality of Pakistan towards Afghan refugees.

He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in the region.

The envoy said that Pakistan and the US will continue to work jointly for common objectives.

Aizaz Chaudhry told the US envoy that the border management was vital to control terrorism.

He said that the Pakistan wants to repatriate the Afghan refugees respectfully. “The role of the UN and the US is very important in this regard,” he said.

The secretary said that Pakistan supports the Afghan peace process and efforts of the four-member core group.

Meanwhile, a four-member US delegation led by Senator John McCain reached Pakistan.

The delegation includes Rick Davis and Senator Lindsay Garaham.

The delegation will call on COAS General Raheel Sharif on Sunday and discuss the Pak-US relations and situation in Afghanistan.

Later, the delegation will visit Afghanistan.
