Violation of Code of Conduct: ECP issues notices to MQM’s Farooq Sattar, PPP’s Sherry Rehman
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Sunday issued notices to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman over elections code of conduct violations and ordered to submit reply in seven days.
The notice to the MQM leader Farooq Sattar was issued for organizing a rally in city’s Liaqatabad area on November 26, while the notice to the PPP leader Sherry Rehman was issued for organizing rally on November 29.
According to the code of conduct, the ECP had banned oraganisation of large political gathering and rallies.
The leaders of both political parties have been ordered to submit reply in seven days.
On the other hand, the ECP has issued notice to Punjab’s minister Malik Iqbal for hurling threats to polling staff in Bahawalpur. The ECP further directed the District Returning Officer (DRO) to investigate the incident and submit a report with the ECP.
The DRO Khushab has also been directed to present report regarding stopping women from casting their vote, while the ECP has made it clear that the election will be declared null and void if the reports of barring women from casting their vote.
