Violent protesters set ablaze Auqaf Dept office in Nankana Sahib

NANKANA SAHIB (92 News) – Violent people set ablaze the Auqaf Department office in protest against anti-encroachment drive in Nankana Sahib on Saturday.

The protesters pelted with stones the vehicle of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) chairman Siqqiqul Farooq besides resorting to firing. As a result, two guards were injured.

The police also resorted to baton-charge, while six people were injured in the aerial firing.

The protesters also burnt 11 motorcycles parked on the premises of the ETPB.

Residents alleged that the Auqaf Department officials received bribe from them every month and they came to demolish their houses after construction.

The protesters are still damaging the government buildings, but there was no one to establish the government writ.


ETPB chairman Siqqiqul Farooq alleged that PML-N MPA Zulqarnain Dogar was leading the Qabza mafia and they would register a case against him.

On the other hand, PML-N MPA Zulqarnain Dogar said that it was their party’s government and the matter should be investigated.

According to the preliminary report, PML-N MPA Zulqanain Dogar and his supporters are responsible for the incident.

The DCO and the district administration showed negligence.
