Wapda’s proposed privatization: Workers continue sit-in outside Lesco Headquarters
LAHORE (92 News) – The Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union continued their sit-in for the second day against the proposed privatization of the Wapda outside the Lesco Headquarters on Tuesday.
Addressing the participants, the Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union office-bearers said that the government is hell-bent on privatizing the Wapda to favour the commission mafia.
Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union Balochistan president Ramazan Achakzai said that all the five electric supply companies of Punjab were profitable and the government should privatize the companies of other provinces, which were in deficit.
When the sit-in was continuing outside the Lesco Headquarters, a secret meeting was held between the Lesco and Privatization Commission officials in Muslim Town. The workers reached there and failed the meeting.
The Lesco chief and director finance left the place by a rickshaw.
