Won’t let assembly run if Shehbaz removed as PAC chairman: Khursheed
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah has warned that that the party will not let the assembly run if opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif is removed from the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Khursheed reacted to the government’s expected move to remove Shehbaz from the PAC chairmanship. He said that if a ‘no-confidence motion’ is presented against Shehbaz, then “the PPP won’t let the parliament function.”
The former opposition leader said that Imrna Khan tried to run the assembly like a container. “The government has unduly disturbed National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser. A speaker has no mandate to change any member of the PAC, but can only recommend a change at the request of the parties.”
In the past, PTI members used to dance in the parliament and stand on the table. “If the government does not change its course of action, the opposition would be forced to do the same in the assembly,” he said.
“The government has failed while pushing the general public to get involved in fights,” he said, adding that the PM’s meeting with International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) managing director was shameful for the country.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Javed Latif warned the incumbent government saying, “The party will present ‘no-confidence motion’ against Priem Minister Imran Khan.”
PPP leader Nafeesa Shah also mentioned that the PTI is taking u-turn on its decision to appoint Shehbaz Sharif as the PAC chairman. He also claimed that Imran Khan should not want to run the parliament.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Raja Riaz opposed nomination of Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“PTI members are already included in the PAC and they are committed to perform with dedication. They will not allow PAC Chairman Shehbaz Sharif to do anything against the rules,” Raja Riaz said. The PTI leader said that the committee was dedicated to work for the betterment of Pakistan.
