World Cup-winning hockey goalkeeper Mansoor Ahmed passes away
KARACHI (92 News) – World Cup-winning hockey goalkeeper Mansoor Ahmed passed away on Saturday after prolonged illness. He was 49.
He had been suffering from cardiac and lungs diseases. On Saturday morning, he was put on the ventilator when his condition deteriorated.
Mansoor Ahmed was conferred with the Presidential Award in 1988 and Pride of Performance in 1994.
During his 14-year career, he played 338 international matches. He represented the country thrice in Olympics and won a bronze medal.
He earned gold medals in world cups in 1992 and 1994.
