Young doctors end strike after talks with government in Punjab
LAHORE (92 News) – Following the successful dialogues with the Punjab government, the Young Doctors have on Tuesday called off its strike across the province.
The young doctors have resumed their duties from today. The strike caused huge inconvenience to patients.
The Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) had staged a protest demonstration and strike in favor of their demands. The young doctors demanded the reinstatement of all the sacked doctors, appointment of ad hoc doctors on permanent basis and reviewing of Centralized Induction Policy.
The doctors of the association had demanded that the provincial health secretary, Najam Ahmad Shah, be removed from his position and the Central Induction Policy, introduced by him, be revoked.
The strike had left patients to suffer at many health care facilities across Punjab. Poor patients from far flung areas suffered due to strikes by young doctors. Large number of poor people who had come from far-flung areas for treatment had to suffer due to strike by the young doctors.
