Young doctors go on strike against police torture in Quetta
QUETTA (92 News) – Young doctors announced a strike for an indefinite period in protest against the torture by the police on Saturday.
Earlier, young doctors staged a sit-in in Red Zone in protest against unavailability of coronavirus protective kits.
Talking to 92 News, YDA provincial president Dr Yasir said that they are losing the war against coronavirus in Balochistan. “Under these circumstances, it is impossible to continue the work,” he said.
He said that they had gone to Red Zone for dialogues, but the police severely beat them up.
The YDA office-bearer said that the government is not providing them masks, gloves and other protective gears. “About 35-40 doctors have already contracted coronavirus,” he said.
He said that the police had arrested several doctors. “We will not resume the duty till the release of all colleagues,” he said.
