CII declares NAB’s handcuffing of suspects against Shariah

ISLAMABAD (92 news) – The Council Of Islamic Ideology (CII) on Thursday declared handcuffing suspects by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials as un-Islamic and against Shariah. CII chief Qibla Ayaz said insulting a suspect in the media before conviction is against Islam and human dignity. He also said a committee to analyzse the NAB ordinance has been formed under the supervision of Justice (r) Raza Khan.

Resolution passed by council
A resolution was passed by the council, declaring manacling persons by the anti-corruption watchdog. CII stated in the resolution that the act also came under violation of the Pakistani Constitution. It is worth mentioning here that many politicians and political parties complained that self-respect was undermined by disrespectful behaviour by the anti-graft watchdog body officials during the investigation against Shariah. Earlier on November 29, a meeting of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) had urged the government to enhance punishments for those misusing their authority to issue religious fatwas. The council had prepared a comprehensive document, Paigham-i-Pakistan, in January this year that had been acknowledged by senior scholars of the all four mainstream schools of thought in the country, the CII meeting, which was chaired by its chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz, said. The landmark document from the religious body signed by 1829 religious scholars across the country, declared several actions as un-Islamic including suicide attacks, spreading sectarianism and anarchy in the name of religion etc.
Husbands can ‘lightly beat’ their wives: CII
Earlier, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has on Thursday prepared draft women’s protect bill, permitting the husbands to ‘lightly beat’ their wives.

The bill was drafted by CII member Mufti Imdadullah proposing that a husband should be allowed to ‘lightly’ beat his wife if she defies him.

The draft of the bill will be sent to all provincial assemblies and the National Assembly for legislation after final recommendations on it by the council’s chairman. The proposed bill recommends that an abortion after 120 days of conceiving should be declared ‘murder’, however, the woman can join politics and contract a Nikah without permission of parents.
