Khokhar brothers illegally transferred 402 kanals, SC informed

LAHORE (92 News) – The Supreme Court was informed that Khokhar brothers got land possession documents issued with the connivance of government officials after which 402 kanals were illegally transferred, causing a heavy loss to the national exchequer. The bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial passed the orders while hearing the suo motu case against Member of National Assembly (MNA) Afzal Khokhar and his brother Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saiful Malook Khokhar. SC seeks report from committee probing Khokhar brothers’ case The SC sought a progress report from the committee formed by in connection with the illegal occupation of properties in Lahore by Khokhar brothers. During the hearing, both the brothers appeared before court. The court also sought reports from Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and others by the second week of March, besides directing the committee to hear Khokhar brothers’ stance on the matter as well. At the outset of the proceedings, a report on Punjab ACE’s behalf was submitted before the court. The court was apprised that Khokhar brothers got land possession documents issued with the connivance of government officials after which 402 kanals were illegally transferred, causing a heavy loss to the national exchequer. Punjab ACE DG further submitted that the brothers were found guilty and five cases were registered against them. LDA’s counsel submitted that Khokhar brothers got maps of four properties approved, whereas the authority had issued notices to them in connection with a fine. A law officer submitted that the committees were investigating the matter in the light of the report submitted by the Punjab ACE. Justice Bandial hoped that real facts regarding sale deeds would surface through the inquiries while adjourning the hearing.
