Visit of royal couple to strengthen Pakistan, UK ties: Buzdar

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Thursday that the visit of royal couple will further strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and United Kingdom (UK). The Punjab chief minister (CM) said this while expressing pleasure over the arrival of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton in Lahore. “Pakistan and UK are moving ahead together in journey of progress and prosperity. The visit will further strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and United Kingdom,” Usman Buzdar said during the meeting with the British guests.
Punjab governor gifts painting to Prince William
Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and Usman Buzdar presented souvenirs to Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton upon their arrival. The governor gifted a painting and a traditional artifact made of olive wood to the Duke of Cambridge while the CM Punjab presented a shawl to the Duchess. The Royal pair also held a brief meeting with Governor Sarwar and CM Buzdar in the airport lounge. Earlier on their arrival on a day-long visit to Lahore, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and other high dignitaries warmly welcomed them at Lahore Airport. Later, the royal couple visited SOS Village in Lahore where administration of the organization briefed them about various aspects of the Village. They will also visit Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, the National Cricket Academy and the Badshahi Mosque. The duchess is also expected to deliver her first address in Pakistan today. All arrangements have been finalized to accord a rousing welcome to the royal couple who reached the city at 12am. Entire route of Royal visitors have been decorated with colorful welcoming banners and flags of both UK and Pakistan. Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton will attend a special ceremony at SOS Village at 12 noon. The British guests will visit National Cricket Academy at 1:30pm. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani will welcome the royal couple. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will reach Badshahi Mosque at 3pm. They will attend a ceremony at Shaukat Khanum Hospital. On Wednesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited Kalash Valley during his visit to Chitral. On arrival, they were received by area notables and high-ranking officials. Both of them were wearing the traditional Chitrali cap and cloak on the occasion. They reviewed damages occurred by the floods in Chitral and impact of climate change on melting of glaciers.
